Look what I found on my walk today. Paw Paws, yum, yum! Paw Paws, the poor man's banana, are the largest edible fruit native to North America. Well Done street tree planting.
There was some song that used to be sung to kids, I heard it when I was a kid in Indiana. All I can remember is the refrain "way down yonder in the paw-paw patch."
Now when you pick a pawpaw Or a prickly pear And you prick a raw paw Next time beware Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw When you pick a pear Try to use the claw But you don't need to use the claw When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
I just bought Paw Paws for my place on Beacon Hill and I'm delighted to see that they might actually ripen here. Mine are just 12" tall seedlings and I'd like to see what they look like full grown. Where in Ravenna can I find these marvelous trees?

Sounds interesting! I'll be searching for these on my walks!
