Room with a view. Wedgwood.

The view from 30th Avenue NE--looking west.  I wish the city would bury these wires.  Do you remember the movie "Crumb" and the scene where Crumb talks about the visual pollution that utility wires create? He was right. Despite this, the Olympic Mountains are still breathtaking.

I love you, man

Ok, White and Lago are both very cute. It was very exciting to see them perform and win under so much pressure AND keep their snowboard "cool". I think that might be harder than the tricks. I really enjoyed the Pearl Jam Outfits. Nothing says " I am a serious athlete" like flannel and torn up jeans. But I have to say I like it better than the scary Cobra Commander Luge gear... Instead of intimidation, the flannel & jeans look presents a casual "hey you wanna get high?" kinda look, which throws all the competitors off. I think the approach worked. Well Done Ralph Lauren! Nice job recognizing a trend from 1992!, Oh wait. Is this  a retro look? Crap, I am getting old.

Cobra Commander’s Fashion Impact on this Winter’s Olympic Games

Thanks Digital Dave for pointing out the blog "the Daily Jim" and his post about the similarity between the Olympic Luge Team  Gear and Commander Cobra of GI JOE-Comic book fame. Wow... now I see it!
Are we making our Olympic Athletes in to real life Superheroes???- Anne

COBRA COMMANDER’S FASHION IMPACT ON THIS WINTER’S OLYMPIC GAMES

Olympic Fashion

Yes, these are real people, not mannequins. It took me a few minutes to make sure. Today I am showing you the Ralph Lauren US Olympic team gear. You have to admit, it looks very American. I mean look at that ridiculous hat! We really like ridiculous hats here. I completely understand and respect RL as an American icon, but what if they had decided to choose another American designer for the team... Say, let me think, how about that hilarious "fierce" guy who won Project Runway a few years ago? Or Betsey Johnson? How awesome would it be for the avant guarde style of America to meet the super scrubbed up clean perfection of the Olympics? A design explosion is what is would be. It would be amazing!--A

Olympic Style

You all might think that just cause Rebecca and I have our heads down all the time looking for beauty in our hood, that we never look up to see if beauty exists in the BIG world out there. Well, this week I am proud to show you just how far up I have looked to find it, Vancouver!!!
As I was sitting here enjoying me some young man mogul skiing cuteness, my obsession with interiors reared its head. DID YOU SEE THIS FLIPPIN COOL SNOW BANK COUCH?????? I mean there it was, right on the finish line.  A well done design. It looked so perfect right there, so comfy for those poor nerve wracked young skiiers.  Look at them,  it looks like they are watching the football game on a sunday at home, wishing their hands were down their pants .... if they didn't have on so many layers. sigh.
Okay seriously, the Olympics are fun,  I am totally hooked... The guy in the middle is the mystery man... you know the one Dale Begg-Smith... the "controversial millionaire " who is from Vancouver but calls Australia his home country.  The one on the left is the Canadian who won gold and has a brother with cerebral palsy and the guy on the right is the USA bronze medalist....
I bet you didn't know you would get Olympic coverage on our blog... we like to surprise you.
